In 1982 Jochen Arden presented his completely converted vehicle, the Arden AJ1 based on the Jaguar XJ V12. The AJ1 conversion was not only optically changed it also received a performance increase. The modifications included a wheel/tire combination as well as new springs and dampers. The new high-performance exhaust-system increased the performance against the production model by approx. 16hp. The sporty chassis consisted of new front and side skirts .
By the mid-1980s Arden had a range of special V12 engines available for the XJ. The top-of-the-range was a 6.3Litre engine veriant with a performance of 455hp. New 5 speed manual transmissions and a 4 speed ZF automatic transmission replaced the old GM 3-speed automatic The interior of the Jaguar/Daimler was completely overhauled and the customer could decide between Recaro C or CSE seats, high quality wood interiors, leather roof, picnic tables, refrigerator and a number of other options.
