12 years after the termination of the legendary E-Type, Arden presented at the IAA in 1985 the Arden complete cabriolet which was based on the Jaguar XJS and at the press of a button had a completely collapsible roof construction. At the same time the rear side windows were lowered. Due to this development the Jaguar driver no longer had to forgo the pleasure of fresh air driving. In order to make this driving enjoyment safe and available Arden had to incorporate expensive reinforcements which gave the Arden team from the beginning almost insolvable problems. The result however passed the strict MOT controls with flying colors and gave Jochen Arden the entrance ticket into the exclusive circle of independent automotive manufacturers that are registered by the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt. He had reached the top. This pioneering achievement from Arden went into production a few years later. At request the Arden AJ2 Cabriolet could be delivered with a five gear transmission, interior and aerodynamic packet, and also a high powered brake unit and an optimized Engine performance.
