At the beginning of the 1930th the world was stuck in the biggest economic crisis up until today. The crash of the banking sector led to the fact that many firms were forced to stop their production. This was exactly the moment in time when Skoda presented its model “422”, which was a little smaller and cheaper than the sister-model “430”.
The self-employed cabinetmaker Benjamin Cesky from Prague bought this Skoda 422 Phaeton and used it for regular trips from Prague to Vienna. In order to be able to keep the vehicle during the years of the Second World War, a load space was attached and the car was used as a delivery van.
At the end of the 1970th his daughter brought the Skoda to Germany and sold it, in the early 1990th, to Mr. Hahn. He restored the vehicle within a time span of 8 years and brought it into its present condition. An extraordinary amount of original parts and supplies were maintained. Mr. Hahn only went out once for a drive and gave the car away- with a heavy heart.
