Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC 5.0 Factory Rally Car
From the Jochen Arden Collection, we are offering one of the most significant Mercedes-Benz factory race cars of its era: the Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC 5.0 with chassis number 12000836.
Björn Waldegård finished second in this car at the 1979 Bandama Rally, securing the crucial points he needed to win the world championship. Mercedes-Benz celebrated a historic one-two-three-four finish at this rally. Later, the SLC was modified for circuit racing and competed, among other events, in the 24 Hours of Spa.
The vehicle has been owned by Jochen Arden since 1990. A comprehensive appraisal report documents its authenticity and lists an insurance value of €1.5 million. The engine has been completely overhauled.
